 Waste and Recycling Collection Services

The sanitation services in Salt Lake County have been “regionalized” to provide services to more people and to help keep our costs down (“economies of scale”). So, now what was Salt Lake County Sanitation, which showed up on your annual property tax bill, is called Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District, and we get separate bills. Many residents may not be aware of all the services that we get for our $14.75 per month, which include: garbage collection services (w/2nd residential container available for an extra $15/month–and you can get these dropped off just for those months when you need them), recycling collection (extra container is free), glass recycling at 5 central sites, annual area cleanup program, box collection program (for new residents, upon request), fall leaf pick-up (see website www.wasatchfrontwaste.org for list of sites for leaf bag pick-up), Christmas tree collection, assistance to residents with mobility limitations, container repair/replacement, and green trailer rental ($30 fee). They’ve recently started a program to provide green waste containers to residents who want them. Call for more information or to schedule any special services, at 385-468-6325.
